RESTAURANTS CLOSE TO MOTELS: LaQuinta Motel is adjacent to Michael's Café THE Whataburger Restaurant/Drive-thru is next door to Michael's Café . Both Michael's Café and Whataburger Restaurants are open 24 hours. Motel 6 and Howard Johnson are adjacent/close to: Denny's Restaurant, which is next door south of Motel 6 and is slightly to the left and in front of Howard Johnson. Waffle House is 1 block south of Motel 6, across the street from Howard Johnson's. Sonic, this Sonic location has a dining room plus the option of driving up. Two doors south of Motel 6, next door south of Denny's Restaurant and in front of Howard Johnson. Cracker Barrel Restaurant is close to Motel 6 and Howard Johnson's, located at northeast corner of I-35/380 intersection on the northbound access road. South bound on I-35 access road, left at Hiway 380, right on the north bound I35 access road. Cracker Barrel with be almost immediately on your right. In this same area you will find McDonald's and Baum's. Know you're familiar with McDonald's and Baum's is a hamburger and/or a great sandwich place. Baum's has ice cream! ADDITIONAL RESTAURANTS IN DENTON WORTHY OF YOUR CONSIDERATION: Mi Ranchito Mexican Restaurant serves authentic Mexican dishes. Watch out for those jalapenos! From I-35E Northbound, take the Ft Worth Drive exit. Turn left back under I-35E, you'll pass through a light at the I-35 southbound access road, there'll be a Sonic, on your left, just pass this intersection. Continue on Ft Worth Drive, on your left you'll see a small shopping strip. Standing alone at the end of the strip you'll see Mi Ranchito. It's located across the street from The Smokehouse. Mi Ranchito is a small restaurant, family owned and operated; and you'll get a delicious, 'fills you up' meal for a reasonable price. Beth Marie's Ice Cream is located on the historical downtown square. They serve the MOST delicious homemade ice cream. Have a few light items on their lunch menu. This is an ole' fashioned ice cream parlor. You'll love their ice cream and their homemade waffle cones. To get to the Square from the Fairgrounds, turn right on Carroll Blvd., follow Carroll Blvd. to Hickory Street, about the fifth light, left on Hickory for about 2 blocks. Beth Marie's is located on Hickory, on your right before you get to the next light. You're on the old town square! A wonderful old courthouse is in the center of the Square. All streets around the Square are one way so if you get to the Square, after you pass Beth Marie's, you can just make two left turns and you'll find yourself on Oak Street. Oak Street will take you back to Carroll Blvd. from a one way street onto another one way street. Just be sure to check for oncoming other traffic. Unless otherwise prohibited, in Texas it's always legal to turn right on a red light after you check oncoming traffic. Trail Dust Steak House, 26551 Hwy 380 (University), 940/440-3878. Do you want to honky- tonk? Go East Young Man....East on Hiway 380 that is, (10.2 miles, about 14 minutes) outside of Denton. Mileage is from the fairgrounds, if you leave from the LaQuinta, add 2.8 miles travel distance. About the time your odometer shows you've traveled the specified distance you'll pass through a traffic light, just past that light you'll see The Trail Dust on your left. Be sure to wear a tie!!
